Breakout Groups
Participants split into three breakout groups, each tackling a different domain where metrics and measurement raise difficult questions.
Group 1: Responsible Research in Academia
How do institutions define and demonstrate responsible research? Participants examined whether broad principles like integrity, accountability, and transparency are being meaningfully measured — and whose perspective counts when evaluating them.
Group 2: Measuring Social Indicators
What challenges arise in choosing metrics to assess the well-being of a population? This group explored the gap between how social and health determinants are measured and how affected communities actually experience their well-being.
Group 3: Public Sector AI Procurement
When a city procures an AI system, what principles should govern the process? Using a concrete scenario — AI-based housing condition detection — participants examined the metrics and evidence needed to keep procurement accountable.
